🍋Take a Cool and Refreshing Bath🍋
Regulate your Temperature
When it’s hot outside, a bath with cool water can help lower your body temperature and provide relief from the summer heat.
Baths Can be Refreshing
After spending time outside, sitting in a tubful of water can be very refreshing and invigorating. You can make it even better by adding some of the ingredients listed below.
🛀🏽Baths are Great Time for Skin Care
Not only can baths be cool and refreshing, but they are a great time to take care of your skin.
Keep Your Skin Hydrated
Baths can help keep your skin hydrated, which is essential during the summer when heat and sun exposure can cause dryness. Try some of these additives to keep your skin hydrated: olive oil, flower petals like lavender, oatmeal, and Epsom salts. Keep an eye out for my recipes for bath melts coming soon.
Cleansing
Bathtime is a great time to cleanse your skin as sweating can cause clogged pores and breakouts. Sitting in the tub makes it easier to thoroughly cleanse your skin than in a shower.
Soothing Irritated Skin
The weather, our activities, and bugs all can leave our skin irritated. You can soothe your skin in a bath with ingredients like aloe, oatmeal, or chamomile. A bath with soothing and calming ingredients like aloe vera, oatmeal, or chamomile can help calm and heal irritated skin.
Add 1/2 cup baking soda and essential oils (optional) to your bath to help relieve the itchiness of bug bites. See this post for more bug bite skin care.
For a bath to help a sunburn, take a cool bath and don’t use soap to avoid dry, irritated skin. Instead use oatmeal for the inflammation and itching. Make an oatmeal powder (I use a coffee grinder) and add it to your bath and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. You can also use green and black tea to help cool your sunburned skin. The tannins and catechins in tea can help with the heat and skin damage a sunburn can cause.
You may also need an after-sun spray. I have a recipe for that here if you are interested.
Relaxation and Stress Relief🛀🏽
Mental Relaxation
Taking a bath can be a relaxing ritual that helps reduce stress and anxiety. Adding calming ingredients like lavender or chamomile essential oils can enhance the experience. See this post on aromatherapy for anxiety
Muscle Relaxation
Summer sports and activities like swimming and hiking can cause sore muscles. Try a bath with Epsom salts or magnesium flakes to help soothe and relax those tired muscles.
