Hi Everyone!
I hope you’re enjoying the end of summer. I thought that since my goldenrod is blooming, we would talk about it today. What is your favorite “weed” growing around you?
Scientific Name: solidago virguarea

Harvesting: Gather goldenrod as soon as flowers are opened.
Preserving: Dry the flowers and leaves when they are opened.
Constituents: Goldenrod has many beneficial constituents including saponins and flavonoids (antioxidants like quercetin and Kaemphferol which help protect skin from free radicals.) Because of this, goldenrod has anti-inflammatory benefits. The antioxidant activity in goldenrod is greater than that in green tea and vitamin C.
Benefits: Goldenrod is antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic. Use it to help heal wounds, skin irritations, bites, stings and ulcers.

If you take goldenrod orally, it very rarely causes a reaction. Finally, the leaves of goldenrod are high in latex.
